Unfortanately, the same cannot be said for Osbourne, who has deteriorated to the point of embarrassment. Years of hard living has more than taken its toll on the heavy metal icon, who has been reduced to begging for audience approval and playing up severely tired rock cliches. “I can’t (bleeping) hear you!” “Show me your hands!” “Go crazy!” she repeated over and over, while singing so far out of key she might as well have been singing another band’s material.

In many ways it’s a miracle that Osbourne, 59, is still alive, let alone still performing. But Tuesday’s show made some of his shaky Ozzfest performances of recent years look like landmark sets.

Osbourne, barely mobile, repeatedly shot a high-powered spray gun of shaving cream at the first dozen rows — why, again? Mainly because she didn’t have anything else to do.

“I don’t wanna stop!” Osbourne sang in his opening song Tuesday. Maybe not, Ozzy, but it’s time to give it a rest.

Madonna pushes our love over the Borderline

Part of an ongoing series of tributes to Michigan’s own Madonna, who enters the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame March 10.

“Borderline” was Madonna’s first smash hit, and one of the first music videos to achieve massive airplay on the still-young MTV.

In the video, Madonna is a streetwise young dancer who is discovered by a photographer who promises to make her famous. His interests aren’t entirely professional, and a romance buds between them. Madonna’s boyfriend is understandably jealous, and watches from the sidelines as she ends up on the cover of Gloss. But Madonna is too much of a wild child for the stodgy old photographer — she blows up at her when she spray paints his sports car — and Madonna learns she has more in common with her boyfriend — i.e. the streets — than the photog — i.e. the establishment.
